This wedding is one of my favourite I photographed this year. The couple were absolutely amazing to work with, we had great weather and the atmosphere was very relaxed. We captured beautiful portraits in the gardens of the castle, by the lake, as well as with beautiful interiors inside!

Castle Wedding Venue In Ireland

Castle Leslie Estate in Co.Monaghan is a very unique venue for a wedding. It’s still in the hands of the founding family who have had it since 1600. It is full of character and charm and is steeped in history. It’s fascinating to just wander around the castle and have a look at the original interiors, the artwork, the furniture, the family photographs dotted everywhere.

There are two locations on the estate where you can host your wedding reception - the castle itself can accommodate 70 people, whilst the marquee style pavilion can cater for a large wedding up to 260 guests.

You can also plan an outdoor civil, humanist or spiritual ceremony overlooking the lake. There is also a quiant church on the grounds of the estate.

K and D had their drinks reception outside in the garden overlooking the lake and then moved into pavilion for wedding meal and reception.

It was a warm sunny summer’s day and they had a cute ice-cream cart for the guests during the cocktail hour, which was a huge hit!

The Estate has a lot of activities to offer to your guests who may be staying the day before the wedding. It has a Spa, a 2AA Rosette restaurant, Conor’s Bar, and you can also have afternoon tea at The Lodge. There are numerous walks around the Estate, as well as fishing in the lake, horse-riding and falconry.

Wedding Theme And Style

The bride and groom both love the outdoors and have enjoyed going for many walks and hikes over the years of their relationship. So they decided to go for a ‘Woodland’ outdoor theme with lots of greenery and foliage.

The Monaghan Cathedral was decorated with live trees lining up the aisle. Marquee in Castle Leslie was decorated with lots of greenery in the ceiling and flowers at the tables. It truly felt like the couple and their florist brought the outside in. They named their tables after all of the outdoor places/walks etc that mean something to them.

Castle Leslie Estate offers a variety of accommodation on site. There are in excess of 100 bedrooms on the grounds of the Estate. These rooms are located in the Castle, Lodge, and in the Self Catering accommodation.

On the wedding morning the bride got ready in the Mauve bridal suite inside the Castle. It’s a spacious and bright room with lots of natural light - perfect for make-up and hair.

The Groom got ready with his friends in a cottage in the village, but there is also an option for the groomsmen to get ready in The Gate Lodge.

Located in the village of Glaslough, Co. Monaghan, Ireland, Castle Leslie is only 80 minutes from Dublin and 60 minutes from Belfast.
